Mayors Message
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to Bashaw. A small, vibrant
town of 868 people, proud of our efforts and achievements to sustain a
rich and prosperous unified community. They say home is where the heart
is and that especially depicts Bashaw. Whether originally from the area
or not, newcomers are amazed at how once settled in it feels like they
have lived here all of their lives. Nestled in the valley near the shores
of Buffalo and Red Deer Lakes at the crossroads of Highway 21 and 53,
we are centrally located in Prairie Parkland Country. Bashaw is within
daily commuting distance to Camrose, Ponoka, Stettler and Lacombe and
less than an hour drive to Red Deer.
Primarily a farming community, the area around Bashaw is known for productive
croplands and a diverse livestock industry. Our full service community
provides all the basics required to maintain a very clean, secure, comfortable
lifestyle in today’s fast paced world. Quality of life is sought
after and easily obtained in our safe and compassionate community. And
we have an abundance of water fed by deep well systems.
Bashaw offers excellent shopping opportunities, a health care centre,
local physician, senior housing facilities, seniors lodge, day care centre,
RCMP detachment, K-12 School, youth centre, library, ball diamonds, arena/curling
rink, agricultural facilities and rodeo grounds.
A scenic countryside with lakes, trees and rolling hills make Bashaw
and area an ideal location for hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, boating
or just a peaceful drive in the country. There are excellent accommodations
within the Town of Bashaw as well as bed and breakfast facilities and
private or provincial campgrounds within the near vicinity. For golfing
enthusiasts who enjoy a challenge, two superb golf courses are located
just minutes north and south of Bashaw.
Bashaw is truly a “community” as it is strategically situated
where the four counties of Camrose, Ponoka, Stettler and Lacombe converge.
This uniqueness in location affords a volunteerism spirit second to none.
Numerous spring and summer events are hosted in Bashaw annually because
of this giving and participative nature.
If you are looking for a place to call home, Bashaw is waiting to welcome
you.
Welcome Home! We want you here with us!
Bob Cammidge, Mayor of Bashaw
