Paying Your Utility Bills

Payment Methods

Utility bills are processed bi-monthly (once every two months) and are due within 30 days.  Any unpaid balance is subject to a 10% penalty and if not paid prior to next billing, balances owed by property owners shall be transferred to tax accounts along with a $40.00 administration fee.

If you are moving please notify the Town Office at (780) 372-3911 five working days prior to the date services are to be discontinued or set up.

The Town of Bashaw offers the following methods of payment options:

1)  Pay on line or by phone through your bank.  By paying on line or through your financial institution you will not only avoid a trip to the mail box or town office but will also save the cost of a cheque and stamp.  You can set up your payments through the following banking institutions: ATB, RBC, and Servus Credit Union.

Please be sure to use the 6 digit Account Number without the decimal point and not your Customer number when submitting payment.  Payments are processed by the Town within two to three business days so be sure to allow time before the due date for payments to be processed.

2)  Pay in person at banking institutions: ATB, RBC and Servus Credit Union

3)  Pay by Mail

4) Pay at the Town office either during regular business hours (8:30 - 4:30) or use the drop box provided at front entrance of the Town Office

Payments at the Town office are accepted by Cash, cheque or direct debit.

Reading Your Utility Bill

What is typical consumption for a family of four?

38 Cubic Meters

How much is a utility bill for a family of four?

The total cost for water and sewer depends on consumption.  In addition to the consumption charges there are also fixed charges.

Consumption Rate: $.75 per cubic metre  (A reading of 25 cubic metres of water would be a charge of $18.75)

Water fixed charge: $35.00

Sewer fixed charge: $35.00 or 1/2 water charge, whichever is greater to a maximum of $210.00

How is your water bill calculated?

Your water metre measures the water consumed in cubic metres.  One cubic metre equals 220 Imperial Gallons.  The amount of water your residence or business consumes is multiplied by the current water & sewer rates

Am I still charged if I don't use any water?

There is a minimum cost charged to be able to supply water services to your property even if no water is actually used.  This is the fixed charge for the water and sewer system.

If you are going to be absent from your residence for an extended period of time, the service can be inactivated and then reactivated upon your return.  There is an associated cost with this service.  Contact the Town of Bashaw at (780) 372 - 3911 for more information.

What is the garbage fee?

The garbage collection fee enables weekly collection of your waste and bi-weekly collection of recyclables.  This is also a fixed rate.  Garbage Rates
